Supported Schools

Since the first Jewish school opened in the CIS (Kiev, 1991) the Canadian Foundation has been providing financial support and educational aid.  The fourteen schools listed here receive direct aid from our foundation, while dozens of others receive benefit from our support in many ways.

Eitz Chaim

Founded in 1992 by Rebbetzin D. Goldschmidt, this school started out as a boys' school, and opened its girls' division a few years later.  With over 400 students, this school remains the forerunner in Torah education among various schools in Moscow.  Also, Eitz Chaim plays host to Camp Eitz Chaim, which brings together hundreds of children from all over Russia.

Beth Yehudith Girls' Seminary

Founded in the early 90's by Rebbetzin Rifka Weiss, this school prepares young Jewish girls for a career in Jewish education.  It is by far the most successful institution in the former Soviet Union.  They are located in the heart of Moscow, but students come from all over this vast country.

Yad Yisrael

This school of over 100 students was founded in 1993 by Rabbi Avrohom Rosenthal, the former Chief Rabbi of Lvov. The school, which is run by Yad Yisroel, is still the only Jewish school in this notorious city, which has long been a center for Ukrainian nationalism.
